You might be dealing with adrenal fatigue. Medical Academia does not recognize this as a diagnosis but many health practitioners do and address it accordingly.
Simply stated, in our toxic world with an excess of stress, poor nutrition, minimum exercise and inadequate healing and recovery practices, your adrenal glands are simply depleted or production is out of balance.
Your adrenals are responsible for the stress hormone cortisol and adrenaline – both of which are important with the fight or flight response. Additionally, cortisol is important in glucose regulation through its effect on the metabolism of carbohydrate, proteins and fats. It also affects your immune system, reduces inflammation and affects your sleep patterns. The adrenal gland also produces testosterone, estrogen and progesterone as well as a hormone that regulates your blood pressure and salt levels.
So it would make sense that if the adrenals are overwhelmed – any of these imbalances might contribute to the symptoms mentioned above.
So how do we address it
First of all, reduce the exposure to the stress and give yourself more time to heal and recover. Next ensure you have nutrient dense natural food (not processed), daily exercise and a good sleep hygiene. You will also want to get a saliva test (not blood) to determine your levels as this will be the best way to monitor your efforts to regain a balance in your hormones. Finally adequate vitamin intake of B, C , magnesium, Coenzyme Q10 as well as certain herbs like Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, licorice root, Siberian Ginseng, and Maca. Omega 3 fatty acids are also important. I do recommend getting tested for the micronutrient levels.
Adrenal fatigue is a real thing and with an inadequate care package to help your adrenals heal, it may result in a serious condition requiring hospitalization. Your body gives you the warning signals well in advance of a catastrophic condition – best to pay attention to that.
