Marie Perkins, DOM

Our mission is to empower our patients with knowledge of their options amongst the endless possibilities of both Western and Eastern Medicine in order to help them make educated decisions and reach their optimum level of health.

Born and raised in Quebec City Canada, Dr. Perkins received her Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy from University Laval in 1993. In 1995, career opportunities arose but it meant she would have to relocate, leaving everything behind. Armed with a back pack and a handful of English words in her vocabulary, she landed at the Tampa International Airport, eager to rise to the challenge of starting an Occupational Therapy department for a very well know Rehabilitative Center in Palm Harbor.

Blessed by the birth of her son in 1998, Dr. Perkins decided to continue pursuing her passion for the medical field, looking for a new direction that would offer her more flexibility to accommodate her new role as a mother. She became a Massage Therapist in 1999, graduating from Bahkti Academy.

How did Chinese Medicine come to be? As an infant, her son was struggling with chronic ears infections. After several rounds of antibiotics without resolution, it was recommended to consider putting tubes in his ears. Before agreeing to this more invasive option, she wanted to make sure that all other options had been explored. Chinese Medicine took care of the situation permanently within 3 days! Curious, she started testing this marvelous promising Medicine with her own health challenges. After a very short period of time, health issues with which she had been struggling with for years, were all going away one by one.

It became abundantly clear to her that Eastern Medicine was going to be the next modality that she was going to add to her already extensive arsenal of tools previously acquired from the amazing world of Traditional Western Medicine. She graduated from the Florida Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2004.
